So now we are onto our October show and we have a read through of this dark, witty tale of love, murder and revenge – the demon barber, Sweeney Todd, on Tues 2nd July at 8pm and auditions on Thurs 4th and Tues 9th at 8pm. All in the Jubilee Hall, Hartley Wintney. Whether you would like to be involved in the production or not, please do come along as it’s a great chance to all get together.
It was fantastic to see a number of new faces involved in the show on and off the stage and somewhere in between!
We had 340 audience members over the 5 nights and 75% of people had a delicious supper provided by Signature Catering. We had some really fabulous comments too:
“Absolutely wonderful show this evening, Great performances and a really moving story that had me laughing and crying, Also dinner was delicious.”
“Brilliant! Well done all. Dinner ladies on steroids!”
“Loved the show. The 4 ladies were amazing!”
“Well done and thanks to HAG for their very enjoyable “Ladies’ Day performance. The cast were brilliant, faultlessly delivering their lines to a humorous, well-written script. The supper in the interval was superb. Signature Catering, the crew, the front of house staff all contributed to making it a fantastic night out.”
We should all be very proud of what our village drama group achieves – happy audiences and talented cast and crew is a winning formula!.
Here is the NODA report (click here) (NODA is the national body that represents amateur theatre). – Our NODA rep’s summary was “All in all a perfect evening.” – we can’t do any better than that, can we!

An exuberant comedy about four likely lasses from the Hull fish docks on a day trip to the races, from the author of Be My Baby
Work, love and life are just one long, hard slog for the fish-filleting foursome Pearl, Jan, Shelley and Linda. But their fortunes are set to change when Linda finds tickets to Ladies’ Day at Royal Ascot the year it relocated to York.
Out go the hairnets, overalls and wellies as the four ditch work, do themselves up to the nines and head off to the races for a drink, a flirt and a flutter. If their luck holds, they could hit the jackpot – and more besides…
Read-through/ Social and Auditions
Our first show meeting will be the read-through which is a chance for anyone to just come along and join in the social aspect without any commitment to the show at all.
Please do come down no matter what your interest may be. Whether you would like to audition, play a role off-stage or are just interested in listening to a play read; no matter, you’ll be welcome. Got a friend that might be interested in the show? Bring them along too…the more the merrier.
Our auditions are very relaxed; no standing in front of panels and acting out prepared pieces. Just come along and read for whichever part(s) you might be interested in.
